I am visiting Singapore next month, would like to know of alternative hotels/districts to stay in (for 1 weeks) besides the orchard Road as hotel rates there are quite crazy at the moment..

You can try Balestier Hotels, no facilities, just clean rooms, if you're on a budget, it's 5 mins to the city and the rates are definitely lower. Hotels like Fragrance Hotels, Quality Hotel and Hotel 81.

Otherwise, Bencoolen has also a few hotels.
